Glenna E. Myrick

Glenna Evalonne Myrick, 82, died Friday Nov. 7, 2014, at Liberal Springs. She was born Oct. 29, 1932, to Wayne and Evalyn (Smith) Clodfelter. She was the best daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother ever. She married Gene Myrick on Jan. 14, 1951, at the First Baptist Church in Liberal, Kan. He survives. Glenna attended Liberal High School and graduated in the class of 1950. Glenna was a loving mother and supporter of her husband Gene while he worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline, moving several times with the company to Pampa, Texas, Kansas City, Kan., Hugoton, Kan., and Brighton, Colo., before returning to Liberal in retirement in 1983. Glenna was very active in each community. While in Kansas City, she worked for the Lee Company. In Hugoton, she worked for Hugoton High School. In Brighton, she worked for Brighton Middle School, and in Liberal, she worked for Seward County Community College. She enjoyed tatting, crocheting, playing piano and listening to 1940s Big Band era music. She was a member of PEO Chapter FA, Aurora Club, Circle of Friends Friday Morning Coffee Group and was an accomplished seamstress. She had a strong personal faith throughout her life. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Liberal. Her survivors include three sons: Steve (Lori) Myrick, Lawrence, Kan.; Tim (Teresa) Myrick, Powell, Tenn.; and Jeff Myrick, Hutchinson; a daughter, Julie (Bill) Michel, San Diego, Calif.; three granddaughters, Rebecca (Eric) Wagner, Lawrence, Kate Myrick, Denver, Colo., and Amanda Michel, San Diego, Calif.; two grandsons, Brett Myrick and Anthony Myrick, both of Chicago, Ill.; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ronald (Linda) Clodfelter, Liberal. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the First Christian Church. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, with the family present to receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Miller Mortuary, 908 Lincoln. Ave. Memorials to charity of choice.
