Glenna J. Mecum

Glenna J. Mecum, 86, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas. She was born October 11, 1932, the daughter of Glenn and LaVerna (Abbey) Sidebottom, in Kinsley, Kansas. She married Robert (Bob) E. Mecum, Jr., on June 4th, 1950 in Kinsley, Kansas. She graduated from Kinsley High School in 1950. She was a longtime resident and homemaker in Liberal, Kansas, and enjoyed her yard care and flower gardening, and was a caring and compassionate mother, grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandmother. Preceding Glenna in death were husband, Robert (Bob) Mecum; parents, Glen and LaVerna Sidebottom; and her brothers, Ronald and Gaylord Sidebottom. She is survived by daughter, Kathy Wedel, Liberal, KS; sons, Doug Mecum (Lynn), Wichita, KS; Mark Mecum, Liberal, KS; Chris Mecum (Redeana), Chickasha, OK; ten grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two new great-grandsons expected in February and one great-great-grandchild. Viewing will be 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday August 30, 2019 at Miller Mortuary. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Liberal, Kansas where the celebration service of her homecoming will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 31st with Pastor Rex Petty presiding. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Kinsley, Kansas.
