Carolyn Kay Jines, 86, of Turpin, passed away on Sunday July 5, 2026 at St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.
She was born on November 21, 1939 to Merrell and Nellie Kuykendall at Turpin, Oklahoma. She attended Turpin schools and graduated from high school in 1958. She attended Northwestern Oklahoma State and graduated in 1962. Before retiring Carolyn worked as a Para-Professional for the Turpin Public Schools.
Carolyn was known for her warmth, integrity, and dedication to those around her. She carried herself with dignity and warmth, always attentive to the needs and joys of those around her. Carolyn was a faithful member of the Turpin Baptist Church, she was always ready to help in any way she could. When it came to sports she loved watching her grandchildren participate in the sports they loved and enjoyed cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Oklahoma University Football team. Throughout her life Carolyn enjoyed creating beautiful quilts that were often gifted to her friends and family. Carolyn was an avid gardener and loved flowers, especially roses. She loved to invite friends and family to enjoy cuttings of her flowers and shared many start up blooms with her treasured family and friends. Her legacy and love of flowers will live on for all to enjoy as she did.
Carolyn is survived by her Two Daughters, Sherlyn Sue Greer, Merlyn Kay (Bill) Sawyers; grandchildren, Justin Sawyers, Garrett Walter, Jeremy Yonkers, Brock Walter, Ben Clubb, Heath Kirmer, Kaylee Yonkers, Tayler Clubb, Rachel Kirmer, Jennifer Walter, Ashley Walter; Great-Grandchildren, Jordan Yonkers, Konner Yonkers, Lucas Yonkers, Breighlee Sawyers, Maddox Sawyers, Gavin Sawyers, Malcolm Clubb, Eden Clubb, Brayden Walter, Maddie Whitehead, Paysley Walter, Denver Walter, Waylon Kirmer. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Merrell Kuykendall, Mother, Nellie Catherine Hopke, Brother Ron Kuykendall, Son in-law Rodger Greer.
Visitation will be held on Friday July 10, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, Kansas. Family will present to greet friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 11, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Turpin Baptist Church in Turpin, Oklahoma, with Ben Clubb, Dan Cox, and Rod Klingsick officiating.
Burial will take place in the Turpin Cemetery.
