Charles Chain

Charles Paul Chain, 81, of Liberal, passed away on Monday September 23, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.

He was born on June 11, 1944 to Homer and Elsie (Wills) Chain at Watonga, OK.

On August 30, 1969 he married Susan Kulisek at Rialto, CA.

Charles was a graduate of Canton High School; class of 1962. He went on to obtain his Masters degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and enjoyed sharing stories of his time in the Navy. In 1971 he began his career in Liberal with USD480 where he taught U.S. Government at Liberal High School until his retirement in 2010. "Mr. Chain" as he was called by his numerous students thoroughly enjoyed teaching and the many relationships that he had built during his tenure. He served as a Key Club Sponsor at LHS and was an Honorary Kiwanis Club Member. Growing up on a farmstead, he enjoyed farming and working cattle.Most of all, Charles adored his two daughters and family.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a long time member of Central Christian Church in Liberal. 

Charles is survived by his loving wife Susan, Two Daughters, Alice Isaacs (Russell) of Turpin, OK, Paula Jackle (Dillen) of Olathe, KS, and Grandson, Jase Paul Jackle. 

He was preceded in death by his Parents; two Brothers, Jay Homer Chain and George Franklin Chain. 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, 10:30 am at Central Christian Church, with Chuck Scroggs, officiating. 

Burial will be 11:00 am Monday September 29, 2025 in the Evergreen Cemetery near Oakwood, OK.. 

Memorials are suggested to Central Christian Church and Gideons International in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826
