Liberal, KS ˜˜ Charles J, Swank, 82, Liberal, KS, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at Satanta District Hospital, Satanta, KS. ˜˜ He was born June 1, 1928 at Fall River, KS, the son of Ezekal & Irene Leonard Swank. ˜ He graduated high school˜ and attended college for two years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U S Army. Charlie moved to Liberal in 1951 and started the Swank Painting, which he and his wife operated over fifty years.˜ He loved working on cars and drag racing. ˜ He waw a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. ˜˜ On February 10, 1952, he married Anna M. Hart at Clayton, NM, she died January 7, 2011. ˜˜ He is survived by one son Jimmie Swank and wife Karen, Liberal, KS; one daughter, Charlotte Ward and husband Gabe, Liberal, KS; one sister, Mary Underwood, Liberal, KS; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. ˜˜˜ Funeral services will be conducted at Lutheran church of the Good Shepherd,˜ with Rev. Dr. Stephen Saville, presiding. ˜˜ Interment will be in the Liberal Cemetery. ˜˜ Friends may call at the Miller Mortuary˜˜ 1-8 P.M. Saturday and Sunday, 9-11 A.M. Monday.
