Evelyn Batt

Evelyn Elaine Batt, formerly of Liberal, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 8, 2022, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, at the age of 73.

She was born on October 5, 1949, to Willard and Helen Downing of Liberal, Kansas.

Evelyn grew up in Liberal and spent most of her life in the Liberal area, until September of this year when she moved to Oklahoma City with her husband, Paul. Evelyn was a dedicated, stay- at-home mom until 1982, when she worked at Oliver Shoe Store. She then worked as a bank teller for the next 27 years. Evelyn was well-known and loved, making many friends during her working years until she retired in 2017. During retirement, Evelyn and Paul spent their days transporting vehicles for a local car dealer, while enjoying quality time together. The couple were dedicated members of the New Beginnings Church in Liberal, KS.

Evelyn enjoyed many vacations in Colorado with her family, spending her time watching her boys fishing and dipping her toes in the cold Colorado rivers. She also enjoyed driving the Kansas and Oklahoma backroads with her loving husband, reminiscing their past together. Evelyn and Paul met at the Snack Shack in Liberal, Kansas in 1968. Paul proposed to Evelyn later that year in front of her parent's house. The two were married February 1, 1969. They enjoyed 53 wonderful years of marriage.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Paul Batt of Oklahoma City. The two were blessed with 2 sons, David and wife Dana of Manhattan, KS, and Donovan and wife Lisa of Turpin, OK; 6 amazing grandchildren, Dawson (Jolee), Anna, Sammi, Paul David, Drew, and Dillon; as well as 2 precious great-grandchildren, Dacen, and Daxon. She is also survived by her siblings, Virginia (Ed) Means, Gene (Joann) Downing, and Kathryn Dotson, as well as countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Louise (Downing) Green.
