Herman Slatten

Herman George Slatten, 77, of Tyrone, OK passed away on Wednesday October 28, 2026 at his home.

He was born on February 25, 1949 to Frank and Wennona (Lubbers) Slatten at Liberal, KS.

On March 7, 1970 he married Jonnie L. Smith at the Tyrone Methodist Church in Tyrone, OK. Jonnie preceded him in death on February 6, 2026.

He graduated from Tyrone High School, class of 1968. Herman went to work with Halliburton in the early 1970's where he successfully worked for 30 years. After Halliburton, he became aTruck Driver working for Consolidated Freight, Southwest Express, and Martin Trucking. He enjoyed fixing old cars and riding his Honda Shadow Motorcycle. He also had an artistic side. He enjoyed drawing and taught himself how to crochet. Herman was a bit ornery and his laughter was contagious; he was able to draw people in with a warm smile. His primary love was taking care of his wife Jonnie and his family, always providing for them.

Herman is survived by his three daughters: Angela (Bryan) Remling of Ardmore, OK, Jennifer Slatten of Tyrone, OK, and Crystal Journagan of Hooker, OK; sister, Sandra (Tom) Trimble of Ft. Worth, TX; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous Nieces & Nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his Parents; Son, Mark Slatten; Great Grandson, Taylen French; Three Brothers, Truman Slatten, Robert Slatten, and Kenneth Slatten; Sister In Law, Luella Slatten. 

There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Service celebrating Herman's life may be announced at a later date.
