James Taylor "Nick" Nickeson, 94, of Turpin, passed away on September 11, 2014 at Perryton, TX. He was born on September 30, 1919 to Judson and Gertrude (Lay) Nickeson near Turpin at Lorena , OK. He attended school at Turpin, OK where he graduated class of 1938. He moved to California at a young age where he worked in a machine shop and tile shop until he joined the Navy in 1943 until 1946. On June 1, 1946 he married Lucille Moses at the Bakersfield, CA. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2001 after 55 years of marriage. James worked as a Rural Mail Carrier for US Postal Service for 30+ years before retiring in 1978. In addition to working with the US Postal Service he had also owned and operated the Turpin Outboard Service in Turpin, OK from 1969 to 1978. He was a member of Turpin Baptist Church. He was also a former Turpin Masonic Lodge member. James enjoyed playing golf, tinkering with engines. and spending time with his family. He married Pauline Pirtle in 2004 who also preceded him in death on February 9, 2013. He is survived by his daughter- Jane Headrick and husband Milton of Turpin, OK; three grandchildren- Paula Headrick of Turpin, OK; Chad Headrick of Columbia, SC; and Chrissy Winchester and husband Brody of Amarillo, TX; two great grandchildren- Trinity and Bladen Winchester of Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by four daughters from his second marriage- Junetta Barby and husband Stanley, Joy Shyrock, JoAnn Herchock and husband Ed, Janell Pirtle and many more grand children and great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother- Eschor Nickeson and two sisters- Irene Dye and Celia Belle Diemer. Visitation will be Sunday September 14, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Miller Mortuary. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Monday September 15, 2014 at the Turpin Baptist Church in Turpin, OK with Pastor Stan Lehnert and Rev. Dan Cox officiating.
