Larry Dean Van Buren

Larry Dean Van Buren, 87, of Liberal Ks, passed away on Monday April 6, 2026 at Southwest Medical Center.

He was born on August 7, 1938 to Dale and Dorothy Van Buren.

On March 10, 1956 he married Donna Sue Morlen in Yates Center, KS. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2018.

Shortly after marrying he and Donna moved to the Los Angeles, CA area for a short time before returning to St. Joseph, MO. In 1962 they moved to Wichita, KS then to Liberal in 1966.

Larry worked for the Seward County Road & Bridge Dept. for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking in his garage, hunting, and fishing. Most of all, Larry enjoyed the years he spent with his wife, kids, and grandkids.

He is survived by his Daughter, Teresa Patton (Donnie) of Liberal; Son, Robert Van Buren of Liberal; Five Grandchildren; Six Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.

Larry was also preceded in death by his Daughter, Penny Marie Van Buren, Grandson, Aaron Patton, Brother, Steve Van Buren and Sister, Linda Scheffler.

There will be no public viewing.

Per Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place.
