Paula Schmidt

Paula L Schmidt, 65, of Turpin, passed away on Tuesday April 7, 2026 at Beaver Memorial Hospital in Beaver, OK.

She was born on September 13, 1960 to Robert and Roberta (Bryan) Williams at Liberal, KS.

On August 25, 1979 she married Ted Schmidt in Liberal, KS.

Paula graduated from Liberal High School, class of 1978. She later obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing Certification through Seward County Community College. Paula had a mischievous spirit and often played pranks on her nieces and nephews when they stayed overnight as children. She enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia and loved watching The Wizard of Oz whenever it aired. She also enjoyed planting in her flower pots, but most of all, she loved being with her family, planning and taking trips with her grandchildren, and watching her grand fur babies play. Paula and Ted have been devoted members of Faith Harvest Church (formerly Turpin Mennonite Church) for 46 years where she faithfully served.

Paula is survived by her loving husband of 46 years Ted Schmidt, two daughters, Kayla James (Tony) of Hugoton, KS, and Julie Veenstra (Kevin) of Turpin, OK; son, Kenton Schmidt of Turpin, OK; sister, Lorraine Schell (Dale) of Plains, KS; and six grandchildren: Aaron, Ella, Brett, Reagan, Derek, and Jenna. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jeff Williams, Kenny Williams, and Robin Williams, and her loving nieces and nephews. 

Per the family's wishes, there will be no public viewing and cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 11, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Faith Harvest Church in Turpin, OK with Pastors Mike and Karen Isaacs officiating.
