Rodger Holmes, 76, of Liberal, passed away on Wednesday February 18, 2026 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX .
He was born on February 14, 1950 to Henry and Billie (Wise) Holmes at Lubbock, TX.
On March 14, 1975 he married Anita Bortz in Liberal, KS.
Rodger proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp. He had worked many years with Baroid Fluid Services in the Oilfield before launching Holmes Detector Services from which he retired from in 2012. Rodger was known as a Jokester with numerous hobbies that included coin collecting, playing pool, woodworking, feeding his Koi fish, playing scratch off tickets, and going all in at the Casinos. He loved fishing and spent many days and evenings at Kaw Lake Reservoir. Rodger was also proud of having a well manicured lawn and was presented with the "Yard of the Week". Most of all, he loved being with his family, being a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather, building many cherished memories with them.
Rodger is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Anita, Son, Brian (Barb) Holmes; Four Grandsons, Chanler Holmes, Tucker Holmes, Kamren Holmes, Chris Holmes; Great-granddaughter, Kaedyn Holmes; Sister Allana Dohm, Brother, Kelly (Rhonda) Burrows, Daughter-in-law, Cheryl Holmes.
He was preceded in death by his Father Henry Allen Holmes, Mother Billie Joyce Burrows, Son, Glenn Holmes, Brothers Don Young and Stacy Holmes, Grandmother Bazie Tuttle, Nephew, Bryce Burrows.
Viewing will be 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, February 25, 2026 with the family present from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm to greet friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, 1:00 pm at the Miller Mortuary Chapel
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery with Military Honors.
