Sandra Jean Eidson, 72, of Liberal, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born on September 4, 1953 to Robert and Montie (Swingley) Altland at Beaver, OK. She raised her family, and resided in Liberal.
Sandra attended K-12 schools in Liberal, and was a graduate of Liberal High School; class of 1971. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s, she worked at a family gas station at ALCO, and later at National Beef. She later went on to complete the office occupations course at the Vo-tech. In the 90’s, she worked as part of the Student Services Department at the Vo-tech, as well as teaching night classes in the evenings. She continued to teach evening classes for over 8 years, after leaving the VoTech. During this time she also worked in concession at Ayr Lanes. In later years, she worked at Merchant MediCollect Credit Bureau for almost a decade, before retiring. She was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her willingness to assist anyone in need, always with a cheerful and kind demeanor. She had a unique ability in building genuine connections and relationships throughout her occupational years, that were still impactful and meaningful years later.
Her interests and hobbies reflected her fun and loving nature. She enjoyed league bowling, especially with her sister. She had a passion for crocheting, creating beautiful handcrafted pieces that were cherished by family and friends. She also loved to cook, and especially enjoyed preparing meals alongside her family. Whether it was weekend breakfast with her grandkids, or holiday meals alongside her sister, love was spoken through these meals and moments.
Sandra embodied family. She was an amazing mother and aunt, but was especially proud and found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren, even sharing moments of fun playing computer games with them. There was always time for “one more time” in reading a bedtime story, and the same went for their shows or movies. Huggabuggas and moochies from her munchkins, could make Nana’s day! She had an infectious happiness and was deeply nurturing, always looking out for those around her. Her love extended to her pets, whom she cared for tenderly, embodying a gentle and caring spirit.
Sandra will be remembered as a beacon of happiness with unending love, a woman who always put others first and who enriched the lives of her family and community with her kindness and generosity. Her legacy remains in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. While we miss her immensely, we find great peace and comfort knowing she is with her sister, Joy, again.
