Supt. Bernardine "B.D." Williams

Supt. Bernardine D. "B.D." Williams, 93, of Liberal, passed away on Tuesday December 10, 2019 at the Wheatridge Care Park in Liberal, Kansas. Bernardine Williams was born August 13, 1926 in Manchester, Arkansas to the late Jacob and Flossie Williams. He attended Peak High School and also attended Little Rock Barber College. He enlisted in the Army and served in WWII. After being honorably discharged he returned to Arkansas. He married Eva Mae Bullock February 7, 1947 and was married for 53 years and to this union were 10 children. She preceded him in death June 12, 2000. He later married Ollie V. Henry in 2001. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2018. He founded his first church in Gum Springs, Arkansas. He pastored in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Great Bend, Kansas and Liberal, Kansas where he ministered for over 50 years. Bernardine is survived by five daughters Brenda Williams Evans, Karen Davis (T.D.), Gwendolyn M. McKesson, Pamela Cotledge & Erica Williams Rider (Jerry) 35 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, one great great great grandchild and a special son Chad McCree. Supt. Bernardine Williams is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clyde Williams and Jerry Williams. Five children (sons) Bernard, Venson and Jeffrey Williams, (daughters) Jessie (Williams) Ponder and Alice Williams and grandson Cory Witherspoon. Viewing will be 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Miller Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at Bibleway Church of God in Christ Friday, December 20, 2019 at 11:00 am with the Bishop Mark L. Gilkey officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberal City Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Wheatridge Care Center and Hospice. A Special thanks to his caregiver Patricia Williams Cherry.
