Gene McElroy
Owner/Funeral Director and Embalmer FD Lic.# 2543 Embalmer Lic.# 3520
Born and raised in Liberal, KS Gene moved to Dallas, TX after graduating from Liberal High School in 1993 to attend the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service; from which he graduated from in 1995 with his Associate Degree in Mortuary Science. While living & working in the Dallas area he served his apprenticeship at North Dallas’ premier funeral provider Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Gene moved back to Liberal, KS in August 1997 to work with Thomas L. Kitch at Kitch Funeral Home until Tom sold the business in 2000 to Rick & Melissa Brenneman. In 2000 Gene took over the local Shelter Insurance agency until 2016 while assisting both Liberal Funeral Homes whenever needed. On April 1, 2013 Gene and his wife Heather purchased Miller Mortuary after it’s previous owner James Kauffman passed.
In addition to caring for the families he serves Gene also has a passion for music; playing lead & rhythm electric guitar in several area Rock and Red Dirt Country bands since 1999. Gene and his wife Heather have two children Meghan & Conner.

Kelsey Flowers
Assistant Funeral Director Lic. # 5938
Kelsey is a lifelong Kansas resident. She was raised in Plains, Kansas and graduated from Southwestern Heights High School in 2001. After graduation she attended the Cosmetology program at Seward County Community College. Upon graduating from Seward County Community College in 2002, she began her career as a Cosmetologist in Liberal, Kansas. She later owned her own salon in Kismet, Kansas.
Kelsey is currenly Licensed as an Assistant Funeral Director through the Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts.
She has always had a gift for helping people in the community. She is caring, compassionate, and puts the needs of others above her own, With an outstanding attention to detail, Kelsey is a perfect fit with us here at Miller Mortuary as we serve the families of Liberal and the surrounding area.

Nancy Koerner
Bilingual Assistant Funeral Director Lic. # 6011
Nancy was raised in Dodge City, KS and graduated from Dodge City High School.
In 2005 she married Kris Koerner; they have two sons, Alexander and Beau.
Nancy is fluent in Spanish and attended Seward County Community College; graduating in 2012 with her Associate’s Degree. She also attended Newman University; graduating in 2016 with her Bachelor of Science degree. Nancy and Kris have called Liberal home since 2007. She had previously worked as a school teacher the past nine years with USD480 where she had taught second, fourth, and fifth grades.
Nancy is currently serving an Apprenticeship to obtain a Kansas Funeral Director License and is the only Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts Bilingual Licensed Assistant Funeral Director in Liberal & Seward County.
We are proud to have her on board with us here at Miller Mortuary to help us better serve our community!

Marlin Meisenheimer
Funeral Attendant
Marlin Meisenheimer was born at Epworth Hospital in Liberal, Kansas on December 25, 1951, to Claude and Cleo Meisenheimer.
He has been a resident of Liberal his entire life and has started a few businesses along the way, including Super Wash Car Wash, Meisenheimer's Lawn Care, and Meisenheimer's BBQ. Following the sale of the BBQ and lawn businesses, Marlin went to work for the City of Liberal and Miller Mortuary.
Marlin enjoys spending time with his wife, Dorothy, his children, Angela (Art) and Aaron, his 4 granddaughters, and his 6 dogs.
Marlin's upbeat & caring personality makes him a great asset to our team and the families we serve!

Rosetta Serrano
Visitation & Viewing Attendant
Rosetta was born in Liberal, KS and was raised in the Oklahoma panhandle.
She graduated from Turpin High School. Several years later she attended the University of North Dakota and received a certification in Dietary.
Rosetta has compassion for others and has worked in the medical field for years. She currently works full time at Turpin Schools and has been there for 6 years.
Rosetta married her husband Raul Serrano 33 years ago; they have two daughters and five grandchildren.
Rosetta and Raul reside in Turpin, OK and began assisting us here at Miller Mortuary in 2018.
